What Is ADAS
ADAS is the umbrella term for the camera and sensor-based safety features that have become standard on most vehicles made in the last decade. These systems use cameras mounted to your windshield to monitor the road, other vehicles, pedestrians, and lane markings in real time.
Because the camera is physically bonded to the glass, replacing the windshield changes the camera's position and the optical properties it was calibrated around. Recalibration restores the system to factory accuracy.

Modern windshields with ADAS cameras have a specific mounting position, glass thickness, and optical clarity that the camera system was configured around at the factory. Change the glass, and the geometry shifts.
A 1-degree error equals several feet of road at highway speed.
ADAS calibration tolerances are measured in millimeters. Even a small deviation in camera angle changes where the system "thinks" lane lines are, or how far ahead it detects objects. At 70 mph, that error expands fast.
Insurance claims can be voided without recalibration records.
