When Repair Isn't Enough

Signs You Need
Replacement, Not Repair.

We'd rather repair than replace when it's safe to do so. Repair is faster and less expensive. But some damage is beyond what resin can fix. Here's when replacement is the honest answer.

Technician installing new windshield on a vehicle
1

The crack is longer than 6 inches

Long cracks have traveled too far for resin to stabilize. Driving vibration will extend them further.

2

The damage is in your line of sight

Even a small chip in your direct line of sight impairs visibility and cannot be cleared up enough with repair.

3

The chip is at the edge of the glass

Edge cracks compromise the structural integrity of the windshield. These require replacement.

4

The inner PVB layer is damaged

Laminated glass has a plastic inner layer. If it's chipped through or cracked, the glass structure is compromised.

5

Multiple chips in the same area

When multiple breaks are close together, the glass between them may be too weakened to hold a repair.

The Process

How Replacement Works

No waiting room. No drop-off. We come to your location fully equipped.

1

Quote & Schedule

Call or fill out our form. We'll confirm your vehicle's glass specs and give you a price. Then we come to you at a time that works.

2

Old Glass Out

The existing windshield is cut out cleanly along the bonded edge. A thin layer of original adhesive is left on the pinch weld. That's intentional. The frame is prepped and primed where needed.

3

Sika Adhesive Applied

We apply Sika crash-tested polyurethane urethane adhesive. This is the same adhesive category OEM manufacturers specify. It's load-bearing, not decorative.

4

New Glass Set and Cured

The new windshield is positioned and seated. Cure time is respected before drive-away. We don't rush it. Your airbag deployment path depends on this bond holding under extreme force.

Does your vehicle have ADAS safety features?

Lane departure, automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, forward collision alerts. If so, windshield replacement requires ADAS recalibration. Skipping it leaves your safety systems operating incorrectly.
